The Rec Project, Inc. believes that a healthy body and exercise are both essential elements in the development of our youth. That is why we offer a program that fosters an athletic environment that allows students to engage in physical activity while increasing their self-efficacy. This goal is accomplished through our Physical Educationprogram which offers courses three days per week and all lasting approximately 45 minutes each time. Our students will gain knowledge of their bodies and its limits, they will be exposed to a wide variety of fitness and sports genres, and they will learn to adapt to new situations.
Most importantly, our students will focus on the essentials of living a healthy lifestyle and learn more about the following areas:
Physical Health:
The benefits of physical education go far beyond just going outside and having fun. The most important benefit is the effects that physical activity has on the body which is essential in the development our youth’s bodies. Physical activity has several benefits for our body in that it helps with flexibility, strong bones, and muscles. It is essential for a healthy heart, lungs, and diabetes. Physical activity helps to lower blood pressure, prevent diseases, and provide individuals with sound sleep which is essential in everything we do as human beings.
Emotional and Mental Health:
Not only is physical health important but maintaining sound mental health is essential to daily living. By exercising on a regular basis and keeping fit persons experience the release of endorphins and serotonin in the brain. This is important because it helps students feel a greater sense of well-being and belonging while also helping them to combat depression. Being physically fit also helps them to be more focused and possess a positive self-image. In short, this release of chemicals improves the mood and emotional well-being of students when they stay active or exercise. As a result, students feel more relaxed, stress-free, and sharpens their minds regarding thinking, learning, and judgment skills.
